This summer, the Student Equity and Opportunity team will be hosting feedback and engagement sessions for DPS staff as well as parents and families to discuss the barriers to success faced by our students with disabilities.
Engagement Sessions: Educators and Specialized Service Providers
We have invited our general educators and specialized service providers such as nurses, psychologists, social workers and others to share their feedback at upcoming summer sessions in locations around the city. These sessions took place between June 20-28 and we will be posting the report of their feedback here once it has been completed.
Engagement Sessions: Parents and Families
DPS wants to hear from you! How can our schools remove barriers to success for our special education students? Families and community members are invited to share feedback with us at our Special Education Engagement Sessions.
Sessions will be held around the city with childcare and interpretation provided if needed. Initially, DPS will be focusing on how to support students with disabilities accessing general education; then we will focus on gathering feedback on how to best support students with disabilities who receive services in our center-based programs. Later in the fall, we will focus on students with disabilities who require more intensive services.
Learn more about current outcomes for students in special education here. We will be discussing this data in our sessions and will have printed copies available.
